La Oca Mini BAG

A known hypothesis about the origins of the Juego de la Oca dates back to the Templar Knights, who defended the pilgrims in their journey to the holy places of Christianity, such as Santiago, Rome or Jerusalem. It can be imagined as a recreation of The French Way from Somport.

The board has many symbolic squares like the inn, giving shelter to the pilgrims on their way; or the wells that could represent the low points in one’s journey. Other squares, such as the maze could be meant to show us the loss, touching on physical loss as well as emotional hardships, and finally, the main instrument required to be able to play, the dice, is our chance, the random transformative force that pushes our destiny forward.

The origins of the Juego de la Oca is intimately linked with a context in which the population needed to be informed about such places, through representations on the board. Precisely, the Goose is not a choice that comes from nowhere, as it is migratory bird.
